TOUR CODE SAS 044 - MT.MERU CLIMB (4 DAYS)

Few people climb Mt.Meru.This is to its advantage,as one is more likely to see forest animals and big game on the lower dripping sparnish mass and carpeted with lover before risisng to open health spiked with giant lobellas.The dramatic and exhirating walk along the rim of the horse shore crater,before the final ascent makes this highly. Recommended for climbers interested in a challange,spectacular views and wildlife.

Day 1:   Momella Gate - Mariakamba Hut

We collect our guest from their hotel in Arusha and Drive to Momella Gate (1500m) where the trekking starts.We follow the track through the forest and through the wild fig tree arch to a small clearing whrerwe we may see buffalloes grazing before continuing acroos the Jekukumia river and onto lunch at Jeku view point with the Momella lake and the plains beyond.Return to the track and continue to Mariakamba Hut for our evening meal and overnight stay (full board ).

Day 2:   Mariakamba Hut - Shadow Hut

After breakfast,we walk through the gates and forest filled with black and white colubus monkeys to Mungongowa Temble (Elephant Ridge).We will reach Shadow Hut 3-4 hours later and enjoy lunch.In the afternoon continue to the summit of little meru for impressive views of the crater.The top ofvthe ash cone and sheer cliffs of the crater inner wall.Your evening meal and overnight will be at shadow hut(full board).

Day 3:   Shadow Hut -Mariakamba Hut

Rise early and walk along the very narrow ridge to the summit (4566m)watching the sunrise dramatically from behind Kilimanjaro.The return via rhino point,provides spectacular views from the Rift Valley,the volcanoes of Kumbeni and Lengai and the town of Arusha.Our evening meal and overenight stay will be at Mariakamba Hut (10 - 12 hours) FB.

Day 4:  Mariakamba Hut - Momella Gate

On our final day return to Momella Gate (2 hours )where our vehicle will be waiting.We will then have a game drive in the Arusha National Park and a picnic lunch before we return to connect with onward arrangement required (breakfast and lunch only).
